fitilates classes are a contemporary approach to Joseph Pilates original method. Created by Jessica Zapata, her approach combines Pilates exercises with contemporary fitness and exercise science. With over a decade in the fitness industry and experience working with clients from all walks of life, including Cirque du Soliel performers, the fitilates workout is designed to change the way you think about movement.
Classes focus on posture, body awareness, centering, control, suspension, opposition and intention while giving you a workout that is second to none!
Level 1 will instill an understanding and confidence in both the Pilates method and adaptability of the exercises for the benefit of their clients and classes. Course topics for level 1 are as follows:
· History of Pilates & fitilates
· Principles of Pilates & fitilates
· Anatomy and Alignment
· Positions of the Spine
· Lengthen-Tension Connection
· Mat Exercises – level 1
· Teaching Formula
· Sample Class Plans
You will leave knowing exactly how to teach the fitilates repertoire and will have access to a private group in which to post questions, receive updates and more! Proficient skills and successful completion of a take-home exam will be required to call yourself a fitilates instructor.
We believe that fitness professionals have the necessary keen eye, knowledge, anatomy, biomechanics and understanding of movement principles to make excellent fitilates instructors. Instructors will conduct themselves in the same manner and professionalism as Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors.
